Stacy Daugherty

Biography
In these compositions, a conversation unfolds—not one bound by words, but one shaped by perception, memory, and emotion. Here, the gaze is drawn into a delicate interplay between the human experience and the natural world, between the intensity of observation and the quiet poetry of existence. The first photograph,“Me, Myself and Eye”, commands attention with its striking intimacy. The eye, at once a mirror and a portal, becomes a vessel for self reflection. The fine threads of lashes curve like the ribs of a cage, guarding the tender vulnerability of sight. Reflected in its iris is more than light—it is the weight of all we’ve seen, the stories we carry, and the unanswered questions that flicker like shadows.

The artist describes this self-portrait as “a gentle reminder” to look inward for love, acceptance, and happiness, for everything we need is already within us. In doing so, the act of seeing transforms into one of understanding—of ourselves and of others. It reminds us to view the world and those around us with compassion and an open heart, meeting each moment and person where they are, without judgment.

My All Roads collection of macro photography captures the intricate details of a single leaf, transforming its natural patterns into evocative pathways that mirror the journeys we take in life. Each piece—All Roads 1 (Left), All Roads 2 (Center), and All Roads 3(Right)— reflects my fascination with the literal and metaphorical roads we traverse, culminating in the most profound journey of all: the return to one’s true essence. As I see it, “Of all the roads traveled, the journey back to self is the most magnificent.” Through these works, the leaf becomes a poetic metaphor for connection, direction, and self-discovery.
