Rabih Damoury
Rabih Damoury knew he was going to be an artist. He saw art in everything around him in his picturesque hometown, and since childhood, Rabih has long admired the male physique; some of his first drawings were of his male friends. Through his artwork, his sexuality emerged and became emphatically clear to his inner soul; however, recognizing his sexual orientation but struggling to find his own identity, Rabih suppressed his desires to create art for fear of retribution and a desire to fit the mold that shaped the people and culture around him.
It was during his young adult years spent traveling the world that Rabih began to see the world from a new lens. A lens of love and acceptance, tolerance for one another, and openness to ideas that differ from the traditions of others. It was through this lens that he saw his whole self and the life he had long suppressed from his mind and from the realm of what he thought could be possible. Upon arriving in the United States in the Fall of 2019, Rabih began to reimagine his life. He started studying Art and explored new art directions and techniques. Rabih expressed these new realities and inspirations around him on canvas. Today, Rabih's art is complex and vibrant; he still draws male physics as well as Abstract art and magnificent large-scale murals.
