Carlos Escandon
Carlos Escandón is 51 years old and has made art his entire life. He is passionate about it,
feels it, enjoys it, and dreams about it! Since he was a child, he began drawing, painting,
taking things apart, and creating new things. When he finished his secondary education in
1989, it wasn't 'realistic' to think about studying art, let alone living off it. He believes he
made a mistake in his choice of studies (industrial engineering and business administration).
He regrets not following his true calling. However, he always continued creating art, though
never as a means of livelihood. After turning 30, he began to travel frequently, expanding his
knowledge of the world and its cultures firsthand by visiting galleries, museums,
communities, villages, and more. His mind kept opening up further.
Carlos now wants to dedicate the rest of his life to what has always motivated him: ART. He
creates works, explores techniques, and invents new ways to express what he thinks and
feels. He has no formal training as an artist but enjoys every stage of his process, from
vision to final presentation. He is excited to exhibit in galleries, not for personal recognition,
but for his works. He hopes that those who see them feel something of what he feels, see
something of what he sees, and are transported to where he goes.
While not everyone may appreciate his work, he understands that art is subjective. As Andy Warhol said: 'Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.
